LIFE ELIA/RTE has been presented at CIGRE session in Paris

Founded in 1921, CIGRE (International Council on Large Electric Systems) is an international nonprofit association, whose mission is to foster collaboration among international experts to improve existing electricity networks and build those for tomorrow.

Every two years, the CIGRE Session takes place in Paris and brings together leaders, experts and specialists in the electricity sector in order to improve their knowledge, expand their network and promote exchanges on new systems and innovations.

The session offers participants a unique opportunity to hear professionals from around the world, through presentations, panel discussions, technical meetings and "poster sessions".

A technical exhibition is hold in parallel with the Session, on the same place.

This year, CIGRE Session and Technical Exhibition took place from August 27 to 31. Nearly 6,000 professionals were present. This is actually the most important biennial meeting of .

On the sidelines of the official CIGRE Session, on August 27th evening, the LIFE team has presented its program of activities divided in different targets : restoration, training, communication, ....

To illustrate our activities, posters (English and French versions) have been carried out. They'll be used at events for professionals (such as CIGRE), but also for general public (Nature Film Festival of Namur coming soon for example).(See PDF files below)

Boosting biodiversity in the high voltage powerlines has been exposed to an audience from all over the world: Portugal, Spain, Norway, Austria, Slovenia, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and Argentina, in addition to France and Belgium , the two parteners of the project.

Following the presentation of the project, discussions and very accurate and relevant questions have shown that the interest in this project is obvious.

One of the most important vocations of this ELIA-RTE LIFE project : the international spread of management measures favorable to biodiversity, can be actually achieved by this type of professionals meeting from all around the world.
