Our French partners in Belgium
The LIFE Elia-RTE project is active on 7 sites in France. These sites are located in the following Departments: Ardennes, Aube, Doubs, Drôme, Finistère, Hautes-Alpes and Seine-et-Marne.
Actions in these regions are being now finalized or in the process of being finalized. In order to exchange experiences, we had the pleasure to welcome several of our French partners to show them achievements made in the Walloon Region.
In total, 25 participants from various partner organisations (RTE, Regional Nature Parks, Hunting Federation, etc.) came to visit us from 3rd to 5th July 2017.
On the programme for this full stay were the following:
- actions carried out under the power line in Nassogne (digging of ponds, restoration of moors and peat bogs, planting of edges and orchards)
- the visit of sites in the region of Lierneux and Houffalize (plantation of edges and orchards, digging of ponds, contracts for mowing with hunters)
- the visit of sites around Beauraing (restoration of callune moorland, excavation of ponds, restoration of edges, mowing agreement with a farmer)
The field trips were also an opportunity to discover two other major achievements of the project: the didactic panels placed where the lines cross hiking paths or the newly inaugurated Nassogne vision area.
These three days took place in a very convivial atmosphere and were an opportunity for rich exchanges on topics as varied as the biological richness of the sites, management techniques, agreements with third parties,...
At the end of the year, the LIFE team will visit the various French sites again as part of an official closing session of the project and, later, will have the opportunity to invite all those involved in this success to a restitution symposium to be held in Paris on December 20th 2017.
